KioSK 2015 is searching for the present in the contemporary theatre

[vc_column_text pb_margin_bottom="no" pb_border_bottom="no" width="1/2" el_position="first"] The KioSK festival is coming up this year in late July to freshen up summer a bit unusual way, with new theatre and dance. However, as always, it is searching for the audience who is even during the holidays craving for knowledge not only for summer joys. So we have prepared for you not quite a holiday topic – personal≷political in the Slovak independent theatre. Together we will compare, discuss, inspire and create in its intentions from 23 to 26 July at the Stanica Žilina-Záriečie, in the New Synagogue / Kunsthalle Žilina and other congenial places in the town. We will neither deal nor burden ourselves with any mathematical (in)equations nor sentences, but we will try to dust off old theatre theorems to define what is lacking in the contemporary Slovak independent theatre. Can the definition be applied that theatre is the mirror of time or on the contrary, it should be timeless, personal, offering the escape from ordinary reality? And do they negate each other? What exactly makes the contemporary theatre contemporary? We want to explore the thematic focus of the contemporary theatre and dance through the specific inequation "personal≷political"; to monitor the reflection of socio-political issues in the theatre, topicality in the choice of themes, commitment or indifference to politics, oscillation of Slovak performative art between these poles and their mutual attractiveness or incompatibility. However, the thematic line is not the determining criterion when choosing performances of the main programme, the Slovak theatrical world is too small for it. It is accompanied by discussions, it defines topics for specialized meetings and seminars. The main key in choosing is a long-term mission of KioSK, to give the scope for artistic courage, research, searching for current theatre language and topics. This has given rise to the programme with several known or unknown from the home stage, e. g. Miroslav Tóth, Maroš Rovňák, Debris Company and also those acting abroad, Milan Tomášik, Stano Dobák, Martina Hajdyla Lacová and others. Come and join us to solve the raised issues and to look for current theatre theorems or simply be gripped by new theatre aspects and their main actors. See you more or less on 23 - 26 July in Žilina!
