performatívna inštalácia

Predstavenie Stopy v pamäti vytvorilo Odivo v roku 2017.

Ticho a pomalosť. Scéna žije vlastným životom po tom, čo ju účinkujúci nechali napospas sebe samej. Zostali len ich odtlačky v rozsypanej hline.

Dekompozícia a rozpad.

MEMORY TRACKS

performative installation

The performance Traces in Memory was created by Odivo in 2017. It is based on a personal experience when Monika and Maja’s brothers were diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. For the Kiosk, they decided, in cooperation with the artist and scenographer Juraj Poliak, to place individual scenographic elements in a new spatial context and create a performative installation. For the needs of the performance, Juraj created a wooden floor composed of 40 8.7 kg heavy pieces of painted chipboard, from 40 author’s paintings. At the beginning of his creation, he transferred his sketches from notebooks onto them, at the end of it he left space for „action painting with a mop“. The performers have left, and the scene of the performance itself, together with the stuffed doe, supplemented with a lot of plaster flowers, slot machines that are found in greeting cards, becomes a place for a new performance, which the viewer builds himself, in his imagination.

The space as a whole evokes a feeling of a post-apocalyptic state. The compositions do not resemble a drama, people did not have to leave this environment suddenly, under the influence of a disaster, rather it seems as if they gradually disappeared from it, dissolved in time. As if the scenography was left standing here, forgotten after the last reprise.

The floor is broken into slabs and installed in the space. The earth cracked and began to move apart. Only cracks connect it.

Silence and slowness. The scene takes on a life of its own after the performers leave it to fend for itself. All that remained were their prints in the scattered clay.

Decomposition and decay. Individual props broken down into parts and components that bear silent and sometimes audible testimony if we focus our attention in the right direction.

Invisible processes. Gradually browning, bitten apples and nuts that begin to germinate and become trees.

Shadows and reflections. Light circulating around plants that seem to rise up by themselves and return to the ground from which they came and their shadows projected on the walls.

The transformation of the old, withered and cracked world into a new, boldly flourishing one. Organics passing through inorganics.
